Diamond Quality

I just met a couple that has been shopping online. She found a ring she loved on an unnamed website. It is a very nice ring but the diamond quality was very misleading. The diamond quality is I-J color and VS2-SI1 clarity and the center diamond is not certified. I have no issue if a diamond is not certified but you do need to trust your goldsmith/jeweler if you plan on buying an uncertified diamond. Yes there are a lot of certification companies that are very lenient with their rating system so not all certifications are equal. I am in the process of trying to figure out the true quality of the diamonds and hopefully we will make sure the couple gets what they are looking for.

Price of Gold

The price of gold is really hurting the industry. I have heard experts say in 5 years gold will be $6,000 per ounce. This would destroy the industry as we know it. It would really be bad if gold goes to $2,000 an ounce. If stores quote you on something it may only be good for that day since the market has been very volatile. This business is getting very interesting.
